Unit 1 Reflection

  1. What do you feel like you learned this unit that you didn’t know before? I learned the different types of news, the informational, analytical and opinion subgenres of news. I always just thought news was news and now I know the distinction between the two.
  2. What did you already know, but now understand better or learned more about? I already knew about the political biases in news, but I now have a better understanding in how these biases are portrayed from the title to specific words and tones being used in the writing.
  3. What (if anything) do you feel like I wanted you to learn, but you still aren’t sure about? I am still not 100% certain about differentiating an opinion piece from an analysis one. But I do know what each subgenre entails.
  4. What are the strengths of your final project articles? What are you most proud of? I feel like my strength would be the concept behind it and the idea used. I took different perspectives of Batman when he was new to crimefighting and not a specific instance but a review of him in general.
  5. If you were to revise your final project articles, what would you want to do differently? I would have liked to add more imagination too it, while I was satisfied with what I did, after looking at the other projects I feel like I could have went above and beyond.
  6. How would you describe or rate your participation/engagement in this unit? I would say I am very active, I have been going to the zoom classes as well as posting comments and just overall trying to stay as ‘on track’ as possible.
  7. What did you do this unit that helped make you successful? I managed my time and made sure that I wrote down everything I had to do and when it was due. This really helped me with the class.
  8. What (if anything) do you want to do differently in the next unit?  I would like to do more of the writings while I know they aren’t mandatory I still feel like it would be a great help to me.
  9. What additional things (resources, support, information, etc.) do you wish you had had for this unit? There wasn’t anything extra that was needed, thus unit was done very well and the website is helping a lot.
  10. Is there anything you would like me to change (in the structure of our course, in how I’m presenting information, etc.) going forward? I personally can’t think of anything, I feel like overall the class is great.
  11. What (if anything) from this unit would you like to discuss/think about/explore further? (either this semester or just in your life) The imaginative writing like the final project, it was fun to write in comparison to a much more restrictive project that could’ve been required.
